Yes I am a real woman!

I have spent the past three years playing World of Warcraft. I always play female toons. I have been approached numerous times by other players with whispers and tells such as, “Are you a real girl?”, “you can’t be girls don’t play wow”. My response is always Yes I am a real woman!

It wasn’t until recently, after Wrath came out, that I actually began to participate heavily in end game raiding. Along with this came my first foray into ventrilo. The first time I spoke on vent I thought my guild mates were going to freak. Yes, they are mainly male and quite a few were under the age of 18. They still did not believe I was a real female until they heard my voice. I never realized why this was so hard to believe. Then I looked at my guild toons, needless to say I was amazed by the number of males who play female toons.

In my guild there were only two real females, but overall the majority of toons were female. Interestingly enough the other female player in my guild has a male toon. This has led me to question why people choose the gender they choose when creating a character.  

I didn’t really give my toon gender much thought it was a default reaction; I picked female because that is what felt right for me. What about you guys? Please respond with your gender choice and the justification for that, It will be interesting to see the various reasons behind these choices.
